Freeport Storm Update – Wednesday 11/01/17

As a result of Monday morning’s storm, there are still wide spread power outages throughout the Town of Freeport. As of 11AM on Wednesday 11/01/17, approximately 2,900 out of 4,700 electric customers remain without power in Town. The Freeport Community Library remains closed due to a downed tree on Main Street. The Recycling Center is closed due to power outage. All other Town offices are open at this time.

This is a reminder that Town crews cannot safely remove trees that are entangled in power lines, and such work must be performed by Central Maine Power Company (CMP). The Town of Freeport will continue to work to remove road obstructions once the power lines have been cleared. The Freeport Fire/Rescue and Public Works Departments have been in communication with CMP regarding line work. CMP is currently estimating that most customers in Town will have service restored by Saturday 11/04/17, although certain areas may take longer. A detailed list of estimated recovery times by street can be found at . Please be aware that the estimates provided by CMP on this list are subject to change without notice.

A warming center is available at Freeport Community Services (53 Depot St.) from 8AM to 8PM on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There is free wifi and phone charging available at this location.

Free showers are available at the Casco Bay YMCA from 5:15AM – 9:00PM.

Water is available at the Freeport Public Safety building on Main Street.

Please continue to use caution around downed trees, especially trees on power lines. Never touch downed lines – even though the power is out, private generators can feed enough electricity back into the system to hurt or kill you. If you have any emergency concerns (live wires, flooding, etc.) please use 911 to contact emergency services.
