Freeport Conservation Commission Meeting
February 13, 2018

Attendees; Mike Stumbo, Andrew Arsenault, Barney Baker, Guy Blanchard, and Dimitra Voulgari. Theresa Oleksiw, and Maura Pillsbury were absent.

Minutes from the November 2017 and January 2018 meetings were approved.

Property reports;

Florida Lake – An application to the Maine Conservation Corps to finish bog bridge work (750 to 900 feet of bog bridge repair or construction and 300 feet of new trail) in June was submitted. If successful, the Town will allow the work party can camp at Winslow Park.

Quarry Woods – Dimitra is working with Freeport Conservation Trust to develop coordinated plan.

Hidden Pond – Need to plan mowing for May.

Presentation from “Beginning with Habitat” will be the primary focus of next meeting (March 13 at 6:30 PM) Conservation Commission will be invited to join for presentation.

There was a question about Freeport snowmobile trails linking to ITS trails. Guy will follow up.

The Maine Association of Conservation Commissions will meet in Brunswick on March 10 from 9 to 12:30 in the Library. Guy will send out reminder in case anyone wants to attend.

Budget the remainder of fiscal year;

- Mowing at Florida Lake in May
- Dog waste containers at Quarry Woods, Hunter Road, Florida Lake, and Hidden Pond
- Order bog bridge material for Hidden Pond ($1,000). Mike will call Tweedy Lumber and relay to Barney.
