Bath Housing Authority (BHA) started a program called Comfortably Home back in 2015, a program which helps seniors live independently and safely in their own homes. They have a team of certified Aging in Place specialists who can make minor repairs and basic accessibility and safety improvements at no cost for qualified homeowners. Examples of work they can do include putting in smoke and CO detectors, adding grab bars and handrails, winterizing, flooring repairs, modifying cabinet height, among many others.
Their team works with each homeowner to create a customized work plan to meet their needs and preferences. The homeowner makes all the decisions and Comfortably Home takes care of the rest - planning, design, materials, and installation.
As of this spring, Bath Housing has expanded their Comfortably Home program to include Freeport homeowners.
Attached at right is information from BHA about this program.
