Wanted: Full Time Police Officer
The Town of Freeport is accepting applications for the position of full time police officer.
Freeport is a coastal community of about 8000 residents with a strong retail base, including L.L. Bean. The police department includes 14 full time officers, full time marine patrol, 4 part time officers, clerical staff, and seasonal parking enforcement personnel.
• Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and have no adverse driving record. Applicants must hold a valid Maine drivers license at the time of employment.
• The minimum requirement for the position is the successful completion of all phases of the Maine Law Enforcement Pre-Service Training Program.
• All applicants will be required to pass a physical agility test (MCJA Standards).
Candidates having an Associate’s Degree or a combination of relevant training and experience will have an advantage. Preference may be given to graduates of the MCJA Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.
An extensive background investigation, including psychological, polygraph, and medical examinations will be part of the process.
The department offers a competitive salary and benefit package for full time employment. Experience, education, and training factor into the wage considerations for officers.

The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. Thursday, 19 October 2017.
