Bustins Island lies a few miles off the shore of the mainland. It is a Village Corporation that resides within the territorial boundaries of the Town of Freeport, but is a self-governing entity.

Freeport Outdoors!
There are over 1,200 acres of open space in Freeport, owned privately, by non-profit organizations, by homeowners’ associations, and public entities such as the State and the Town. The spaces open to the public provide opportunities to hike, swim, bike, camp, skate, snowmobile, picnic, and boat through the provision of public water access points.
