Functions

The town clerk's office has four major functions: Elections, Vital Records, Licensing, and Keeper of Town Council and Board/Committee minutes. 

Dog Licenses

Dog Licenses due by December 31st each year. Please provide proof of rabies and spay/neuter. License at the Clerk's Office or online at Maine.gov.

Notary Services

Notary Public Services are offered through the Clerk's Office.

  • Freeport residents: $6 per notarization
  • Non-residents: $9 per notarization

If you are in need of Notarial Services, please bring proper I.D. and do not sign your document(s) ahead of time.

Dedimus Justice Services are also offered free of charge.

Record Keeping

The Clerk's office maintains and preserves legal and historical documents:

  • Town Council minutes
  • Boards and Committees information and minutes
  • Ordinance Book
  • Oaths of office
  • Road Book - discontinuance and acceptance of roads
  • Town Reports
